Dodgy website

Grrr! I am saddened and angered to learn of a new website and adoption service - Adoption Australia. What a con. For $214 they can provide you with information that is otherwise freely available. They are preying on unsuspecting and vulnerable couples who are new to the process and probably not yet aware that the same information can be found at the Attorney General's website or obtained from their state authority. Likewise, support and advice is available from each state's support group (such as IAFQ in Qld). I hope they don't suck too many people in.

I have noticed that site too, I kept popping by it randomly to see if anything new came up, but like you said just seems to be providing info already get through the official channels.

I wonder who is behind it - the addresses for each state are fairly general - Brunswick St in the Valley is pretty long... I feel like ringing them up and asking why I should pay $ for a service that is free elsewhere....

This website got a mention tonight on ACA - apparently it has links to a number of dodgy websites all created from NZ they say. Hopefully the media attention will force it to shut down.. we can only hope anyway.

This is an outrage. Why are some people in this world so intent on making money "any mean's nescessary". It is abhorent and disgusting behaviour. It is sad and yes, i am upset about this. Why is all i can say?

I've had a lady contact me who's been stung by this website and ripped off the $214.

Has anything been done about the website yet?

I filled out the on-line form just to see what kind of response I would get from this mob; I have since been recieving emails trying to get me to proceed with their services. I have already been through the process of local adoption, attending information sessions, educative sessions and alike and we have been very fortunate to adopt our duaghter through local adoption. For anyone considering adoption here in Australia, there is no need to pay money to groups such as Adoption Australia. The unfortunate fact about this site is that when anyone googles adoption or Australian sdoption, guess who's site comes up every time - very misleading!
